Επτά χρόνια μετά τον «Κυνόδοντα» που έφτασε μέχρι την πεντάδα του Όσκαρ Καλύτερης Ξενόγλωσσης Ταινίας, ο Γιώργος Λάνθιμος θα διεκδικήσει, μαζί με τον συνεργάτη του στα σενάρια, Ευθύμη Φιλίππου το Οσκαρ Καλύτερου Πρωτότυπου Σεναρίου.

Τα υπόλοιπα τέσσερα πρωτότυπα σενάρια που θα διεκδικήσουν το Οσκαρ είναι τα σενάρια του «Hell or High Water», του «La La Land», του «Manchester by the Sea» και του «20th Century Women».
